Some pupils may require 1:1 support throughout all literacy and numeracy lessons. This is charged at an extra fee. Some pupils may require part support for specified lessons. Fees are adjusted accordingly.
Each child will be provided with their own PLP (Personalised Learning Programme) to ensure their individual needs are met. To address their targeted area of need children participate in Personalised Learning classes. These will be reviewed termly and progress recorded.
Personalised Learning Classes include:
Social Skills – Games, discussions and activities to practice and develop confidence in social scenarios
Challenge Group – For children working above Government expected levels and 11+ practice
Times Tables Booster – Games and activities to develop times tables confidence.
Maths Booster – Games and activities using Numicon to reinforce understanding.
Sensory Circuits – Gross Motor Skills for children with Dyspraxia and other mild physical impairments. A programme set by The Occupational Therapist.
Handwriting – Practising letter formation and also joined handwriting practice for more able.
Clever Fingers – Fun games and activities to increase fine motor skill control.
Instruction Group – To encourage children to be able to follow three step instructions.
Dyslexia/Reading/Sequencing – Use of specialist Dyslexia equipment to develop all areas of Dyslexia such as short term memory, word finding, vocabulary skills, sequencing, ordering and decoding etc.
Phonic Group – Using the Ruth Miskin Read Write Inc Programme to reinforce understanding.
All of these groups are in addition to Numeracy, Literacy and the National Curriculum. All are included in the termly fees.
Textbooks and stationery are also included.
Speech and Language Therapy; Occupational Therapy; Before and after school clubs; Extra curricular activities; School trips / residential holiday / swimming lessons.
Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy and Physio Therapy can be provided on site through Starjumpz who are Independent Therapists. The Therapists have extensive clinical expertise from working with children in a variety of settings. Other group and 1:1 interventions include Social Communication, Emotional Literacy and RelaxKids. These are provided by specialist professionals onsite. Therapy can include individual programmes, assessments and reviews. Costs vary. Please contact for the school office for further information.
Dyslexia Screening Test
A Dyslexia Screening test is offered for a fee of £60, this indicates if your child is mildly, moderately or severely at risk of Dyslexia. We can then refer you to our Dyslexia Specialist for an official diagnosis.
We also offer the TTRS (Touch Type Read Spell) program for an additional cost. This is a multi-sensory innovative computer based learning program for children with reading, writing and spelling difficulties, including dyslexia. TTRS aims to develop literacy skills, confidence, self-esteem and motivation.
Half Day – £60 plus travel expenses
Full Day – £120 plus travel expenses
Tribunal Attendance -£160 plus travel / hotel expenses
Statutory Assessment Application – £495
Fees are payable in advance of, or on the first day of each term.
Please note: Any school books or equipment that is lost or damaged must be paid for.
One full term’s notice will be given in writing to the Headteacher on the first day of term preceding the term of removal or one full term’s fees in addition to the current term will be paid in lieu of the required notice.
Fees are reviewed annually and any adjustment will be advised at the end of the Summer Term, before being introduced in the following Autumn term.
There is a £100 registration fee.
Birtley House School works in partnership with the Local Authority, Social Services and other external agencies wherever relevant and applicable. We currently have pupils funded by the Kent LA, Bexley LA, Bromley LA and East Sussex LA. Pupils funded by Local Authorities have all income and expenditure recorded annually.
