At Birtley House, Design & Technology (DT) is about exploring, creating, and problem-solving. We believe that every child can design and make, using creativity, curiosity, and practical skills to bring ideas to life.
Our lessons help pupils to:
- Plan and design solutions to real-life problems
- Use a variety of tools, materials and techniques safely and effectively
- Develop fine motor and practical skills, building confidence through making
- Work collaboratively, sharing ideas and learning from each other
Our DT curriculum encourages pupils to think critically and creatively, learning how to test, improve, and evaluate their designs.
By the time children leave Birtley House, we want them to see themselves as confident, inventive problem-solvers who understand that Design & Technology is all about imagination, skill, and making ideas real.
